EDM Warehouse v17.1 Release Notification

IHS Markit is pleased to announce the v17.1 release of our EDM Warehouse software which is compatible with EDM v17.1. The highlights of this release are as follows:

User-Defined Account Groups Maintenance

  • Enhanced features to maintain user-defined account groups.
  • Define group start date and base currency.
  • Search and assign eligible participants by Account ID and Name.
  • State period of a participant in a group; i.e. start and end date.
  • View participant lineage in the user-defined account group.

Reporting Currency 

  • Allow administrators to select exchange rates based on price types, exchanges, and sources.
  • Flexibility on viewing and reporting data in alternate currencies.
  • User-Defined Inquiries automatically inherit configuration from the parent unless specified. 
  • Define price type, price exchange, price source and price validity at the application level, if there is only one source of FX data. 
  • Define price type, price exchange, price source and price validity at the inquiry level if there is more than one source of FX data; e.g. FX Rates from Internal System versus Software Vendor. 

Auto-Permission New Accounts

  • A new rule-based feature which allows administrators to auto-permission new accounts to one or more user groups.
  • Full revision history of changes in rules is maintained for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Can be integrated and invoked via EDM after completion of Portfolio / Account Master load to EDM Warehouse.
  • Positive or negative permissions: all permissions to User Group A where Book ID is Private Equity; all permissions to User Group A where Book ID is not Private Equity.

New Inquiries

Fund Performance Inquiry

  • View performance data for a period or period range including returns, fees and expenses for funds or share classes.
  • Compare performance data with linked benchmarks.
  • Refine performance results by using available selections; e.g. Benchmark Type, Benchmark Purpose.

Extended Security Classification Position List

A new position data inquiry template that supports the use case of security level classification:
  • Dynamic update to field business names based on the selection of security characteristics set.
  • Removes the overhead of creating position-level classifications out of security-level classification as found in EDM Warehouse v9.0 and below.

Security Updates 

  • SQL injection and ethical hack issues were updated for Nam and Account totals inquiries.
  • Column names and other secure information are not shown on capture in HTTP and HTTPS traffic and logs.
  • Inline SQL code and query formations were removed and are done server-side which makes the system more robust and secure.

Table and Loader Updates

  • Market Data tables have been enhanced to ease data uploads and remove the dependency on other market data table content.
  • Benchmark tables have been added to allow clients flexibility in linking Indices or Benchmarks to Funds and Accounts.

EDM v17.1 Release Notification

IHS Markit is pleased to announce the v17.1 release of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) software which is now generally available. The highlights of this release are as follows:

Dashboards

  • Display multiple visual elements representing data sets, charts, functions and reports.
  • Summarize key metrics and trends for data in your EDM implementation.
  • Use the same reports or elements in multiple zones on a single dashboard.
  • Visualize the same report data (for example) as both a bar chart and a pie chart.
  • Share dashboards and access shared dashboards.
  • Allow specified 'collaborators' to edit shared dashboards.
  • Lock dashboards to prevent concurrent editing.
  • Resize the browser window to see 'responsive' elements adapt accordingly.
  • Allow dashboard elements to communicate via 'channels'.
  • Users can edit the default element name when adding to a dashboard.

Chart Export

  • Save charts for sharing or inclusion in documents.
  • Export as an image.
  • Export in Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format.

EDM Groups

  • New EDM Groups tab within Console Grouping and Security allows custom groups of EDM users to be created.
  • Users can be added to EDM Groups from other EDM Groups or from Active Directory.
  • Groups of users can be assigned permissions in a way that is less cumbersome than creating Active Directory groups for this purpose.

Favourites

  • Add pages to your list of favourite pages via one click on the Page Toolbar.
  • Access your list of favourite pages via a link in the Side Menu.

Doughnut KPI Chart

  • New 'Doughnut KPI' UI element within the Key Performance Indicator category.
  • Displays value as a percentage towards a target.

Client-Facing RESTful API

  • Exposes core EDM functionality; specifically the EDM Data Generator Service.
  • Includes an EDM Token Service for authorization via a JSON Web Token (JWT).

Page Layout for Workflows

  • Layout for workflows now based on a fixed 24 column grid, with rows fixed at 30 pixel height.
  • Database Upgrade Wizard converts workflows to the new layout.
  • Row count for conversion defaults to 24, but can be changed.

Data Generators - HTML5

  • Generator Inbox Grid UI element upgraded to HTML5.
  • Powerful facilities for paging, sorting and filtering items.
  • All editing options now consolidated into the "Enable Editing" link.
  • Default paging set to 50 rows per page on upgrade.

New UI System

  • Side Menu with links to pages, dashboards and favourites.
  • Administration Toolbar with a link to the 'about' page and (in future) an administration section.
  • Page Toolbar facilitating access to page-level functions such as editing, sharing and adding pages to favourites.

Published Elements

  • Organise elements into categories, and tag with keywords.
  • Provide a business-friendly name and description for end users.
  • Set input / output mapping for components to communicate within the dashboard.
  • Create an inventory of elements to be used when building dashboards.

Doughnut Charts

  • HTML5-based.
  • Same features as the pie chart.
  • Easy to configure and migrate to the doughnut style.

Version Control

  • Checked-out Components View now allows sorting by "Type", "Name", "Check Out To" or "Check Out Date".
  • Version Control labels can now be chosen from a drop-down list on check-in. 
  • Package Export Wizard now allows exporting of components for a specific label or multiple labels.

Data Porter 'BulkCopy' Default

  • DPTransferSystem in CADIS_SYS.CO_DBPARM now specifies the default transfer method for all Data Porters.
  • The default 'BulkCopy' database transfer method can be changed, and individual Data Porters can be overridden using the drop-down at each step.

Other Changes

  • Visual and architectural changes to the look, feel and performance of the thin-client Web UI by introducing Angular 2 and streamlining CSS.
  • Ability to hide or show location of environment, and new location of environment description.
  • Read-only mode introduced for Core Matcher UI.
  • To improve efficiency when wiring up elements in a workflow, default settings for input / output parameters of newly created UI elements now set to fixed values: "null" for inputs, and "not visible" for outputs.

EDM v17.1 (Beta) Release Notification

EDM Warehouse v9.0 Release Notification

IHS Markit is pleased to announce the v9.0 release of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Warehouse software, formerly known as VistaOne vData, which is now generally available. In version 9.0, EDM Warehouse is fully integrated with IHS Markit’s EDM platform.
The highlights of this release are:

New EDM Solutions

EDM Warehouse has been integrated with core EDM, through the development of a library of “reference” solutions that expose a variety of data sets or subject areas within EDM Warehouse including:
  • Reference data loads for Accounts, Funds, Share Classes, Customer data and Domain Values
  • Static data for Security Master details including prices, classifications and characteristics
  • Investment Data for Positions, Transactions, Lots and Holdings
  • Performance data for Fund and Share Class performance, Net Assets Values and Third Party data

New Data Catalogues

In the v9.0 release, EDM Warehouse has mapped its standard schema to the following data providers and systems:
  • Morningstar Direct, which provides a series of monthly files covering category averages, peer universes, etc. for global funds and ETFs
  • Blackrock Aladdin, a leading OMS and Portfolio Analytics platform sourcing Positions, Security Master, Analytics, and Performance Data Sets

Rebranding

The EDM Warehouse user interface has been modernised to bring it in line with HTML5 standards and to improve portability across browsers. Additionally, the application menus and navigation have been refactored to support more intuitive navigation and promote ease of use.
  • New menu aligned to EDM standards
  • Improved user exception management
  • New icons, CSS, and colour changes

Enhanced Exception Management

Through its integration with core EDM, users of EDM Warehouse now have access to a library of configurable operational motors and exception dashboards so they can:
  • Easily identify process failures including root cause or dependencies
  • Track status and resolution path for exceptions in line with production SLA’s
  • Monitor process from data sourcing through publication

Data Model Enhancements

Data model changes have been made to support the integrated EDM Data Load process and ensure compatibility with SQL2012 and SQL2014. Changes include:
  • Data type changes from NCHAR to NVARCHAR to improve data storage
  • Decimal precision has been extended to 15 positions
  • Table additions for Account Summary data and a redesign of some of the Financial Entity tables to ease some of the referential restrictions

Installation and Deployment

  • Single installation package, including deployment of the reference solutions with new or existing EDM instances

Other Changes

  • EDM Warehouse supports SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014, with the minimum required version being SQL Server 2012

Markit EDM v11.5 release notification

IHS Markit is pleased to announce the v11.5 release of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) software which is now generally available.


The highlights of this release are:


Markdown
  • Text Label UI element and Email Data Porter now both support Markdown syntax for rich text rendering
  • Users can enter Markdown marked-up text which gets rendered into HTML
  • Placeholders can be used for text to be replaced during the conversion from Markdown to HTML
  • Custom HTML is disallowed to prevent the possibility of Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks  
Heat Map
  • New Heat Map Data Generator element displays colour-coded values in a grid
  • Colours represent value bands (such as red for hot or green for not)
  • Similar to Microsoft Excel conditional formatting
Charts
  • Kendo UI Charts introduced for improved visualisation and customisation
  • New Chart UI elements include Line Chart, Bar Chart, Area Chart, Pie Chart, Scatter Chart, and Multi-Plot Chart  
Always-On 
  • Ability to mark a solution as Always-On so that components will execute with better performance
  • Always-On solutions are pre-loaded into memory on the application server through the Process Launcher Service  
Version control
  • New components no longer being checked in (and out again) on first save, until explicitly checked in
  • Change Sets now supported for Subversion, Team Foundation Server (TFS), and Database version control providers  
Navigation
  • New standard navigation menu (site map) to navigate through to the available workflow screens in the Web UI
  • No need to "build your own" on every screen
Other changes
  • Markit EDM now supports SQL Server 2016, with the minimum required version still being SQL Server 2008

Markit Enterprise Software JIRA production support portal and EDM Confluence document repository

IHS Markit is pleased to introduce a new user interface that will affect how you access the current Markit Enterprise Software JIRA (projects.markit.com) and EDM Confluence (supportlibrary.markit.com)

The new portal will provide security and single sign-on capabilities for the IHS Markit products and support services.

The upgrade changes are scheduled to be rolled out on March 6th 2017. Following the changes, you will receive a notification email with the URL and password reset links. Please save this URL in your favourites and note that the validity of the password reset link is 24 hours.

To ensure the security of your data, as well as to align with industry-wide best practices, there will be a change in the list of browsers that support projects.markit.com and supportlibrary.markit.com effective March 11th 2017.
