EDM Warehouse v9.0 Release Notification

May 11th 2017
IHS Markit is pleased to announce the v9.0 release of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Warehouse software, formerly known as VistaOne vData, which is now generally available. In version 9.0, EDM Warehouse is fully integrated with IHS Markit’s EDM platform.
The highlights of this release are:

New EDM Solutions

EDM Warehouse has been integrated with core EDM, through the development of a library of “reference” solutions that expose a variety of data sets or subject areas within EDM Warehouse including:
  • Reference data loads for Accounts, Funds, Share Classes, Customer data and Domain Values
  • Static data for Security Master details including prices, classifications and characteristics
  • Investment Data for Positions, Transactions, Lots and Holdings
  • Performance data for Fund and Share Class performance, Net Assets Values and Third Party data

New Data Catalogues

In the v9.0 release, EDM Warehouse has mapped its standard schema to the following data providers and systems:
  • Morningstar Direct, which provides a series of monthly files covering category averages, peer universes, etc. for global funds and ETFs
  • Blackrock Aladdin, a leading OMS and Portfolio Analytics platform sourcing Positions, Security Master, Analytics, and Performance Data Sets

Rebranding

The EDM Warehouse user interface has been modernised to bring it in line with HTML5 standards and to improve portability across browsers. Additionally, the application menus and navigation have been refactored to support more intuitive navigation and promote ease of use.
  • New menu aligned to EDM standards
  • Improved user exception management
  • New icons, CSS, and colour changes

Enhanced Exception Management

Through its integration with core EDM, users of EDM Warehouse now have access to a library of configurable operational motors and exception dashboards so they can:
  • Easily identify process failures including root cause or dependencies
  • Track status and resolution path for exceptions in line with production SLA’s
  • Monitor process from data sourcing through publication

Data Model Enhancements

Data model changes have been made to support the integrated EDM Data Load process and ensure compatibility with SQL2012 and SQL2014. Changes include:
  • Data type changes from NCHAR to NVARCHAR to improve data storage
  • Decimal precision has been extended to 15 positions
  • Table additions for Account Summary data and a redesign of some of the Financial Entity tables to ease some of the referential restrictions

Installation and Deployment

  • Single installation package, including deployment of the reference solutions with new or existing EDM instances

Other Changes

  • EDM Warehouse supports SQL Server 2012 and SQL Server 2014, with the minimum required version being SQL Server 2012
