Markit EDM Product Update

Version 11.0

We are pleased to announce the release of version 11.0 of Markit EDM.  The highlights in this version include.

Concurrent Processing

All processing components now have the ability to run concurrently thus removing the issue of job queue generation caused by component locking.  This builds upon the concurrent solutions and process keys functionality introduced in the 10.* series.

In-Memory Processing

The Data Inspector and Data Constructor both have the option to run in memory rather than as a stored procedure using similar functionality to the Data Flow Component.  This will enable the ability to move the processing workload to the application server and to load-balance across multiple application servers.

Core Matcher

The Core Matcher brings a new style of matching, to align with the other major themes of concurrency and in-memory processing.  The process will now match to a central Core Record rather than to the individual source pairs, thereby considerably reducing the number of rules, and running as an in-memory service providing the option to prioritise Id requests from different sources.

The Core Matcher is still in Beta test while we test further scenarios internally and with clients.  A further announcement will confirm when the Core Matcher will be generally available.

Web UI

With the removal of Silverlight support in v11.0, the Web UI has been given a new theme to freshen up the look at feel.  The theme will be configurable in the future to suit client styles.
The Web UI will continue to evolve in future releases - with new grid and charting elements in version 11.5 and with new paging, responsive layouts, and end-user configuration in 2017.

For further details on the release please visit the following page in Confluence.

If you are interested in obtaining a copy of version 11.0, please contact your client manager.  If concurrent processing and the Core Matcher are of particular interest, please highlight this since you will require a new license.

Templates

The Index Master template has been added to our Template offering.  The template provides a model to house Index reference data, Index Levels and returns, and the underlying constituents' weights and returns.  The Index Master template can be connected into the other existing Templates:
          Security
          Party
          Price

Please contact your client manager or support to request a package containing the templates.  The package is supported from v10.5.3 onwards.

Future Developments

SQL 2008

We will look to remove support for SQL 2008 during the second release of 2017.  This is to allow us to focus on more recent functionality provided from SQL 2012 such as always-on services.

Component Definitions

In 2017 we will be changing the XML definition structure of each component type to provide more user friendly definitions.  This will help enable merging and branching as part of a version control strategy.

For most clients this will not be an issue, because the definitions exist in the EDM system tables, but any solution that interrogates the component definitions will need to be changed.
